We make custom-fitted nightguards to alleviate stress on the temporal mandibular joint (TMJ), which may result in soreness or pain.
Considering all the stress we put our joints through, patients may not realize that the soreness or pain they experience in their jaw or ears could be due to stress on their temporomandibular joint. Bruxism is a condition that causes clenching and/or grinding of teeth, which can add unnecessary stress on tooth surfaces and lead to TMJ pain.
Our office can fabricate custom appliances to help alleviate those stresses and prevent further damage and pain. Typically worn at night, these removable acrylic appliances can help provide relief from temporomandibular joint pain and other effects of grinding the teeth.
